I really enjoyed this article, particularly since I wasn't aware Funky Winkerbean was still being published (the paper I used to read it in dropped the strip and I mistakenly thought it had come to an end).

In the summer of 1980, I attended a "journalism camp" at Ohio University (Athens, OH) and Tom Batiuk was one of the guest speakers. While others have found fault with the direction in which he's taken the strip, I fiercely applaud it--continuity strips are a rare breed nowadays. |
