Love (or Maybe Not) in the Snow
Northeast: Break Out Those Snow Shovels One of the highlight headlines is "Storm could delay Valentine's Day deliveries" and a florist is quoted as saying "People have to understand, we can't do it if it gets really bad. Other than that, we'll kill ourselves to get it delivered." What kind of folks would get angry if the florist couldn't deliver flowers in a snowstorm? Wow. Forget the darn flowers! Most people in New Jersey were lucky to get to work today, including me!
(And I know why WE didn't get a "state of emergency" declared, despite being one of the states with snow-caused deaths. I called my mom to wish her a happy Valentine's Day earlier this evening, and she said Cape May County and the southern Jersey shore area got torrential rain and gigantic gusts of wind, but no snow! :p)
The type of people who think that because they have 4WD, grew up in Minnesota and know how to drive in it, and are used to utiltities that likewise know how to deal with snow fall that everyone, even those who are not equipped in areas that aren't used to snow fall, should refuse to be sane and stay home on bad days and not add to congestion. (We have a 4WD and AWD, and I still stay home unless it is an emergency if I can. For one thing, I don't want the critters trapped here at home with no one to care for them.)
